Happy New Year!

From all of us at Smith Gee Studio, happy holidays and happy new year! As 2022 draws to a close, we’re spending some time looking back at all we have accomplished and the memories we made.

Events and Team Building

This past year, we’ve been so excited to enjoy our office space and being able to explore our neighborhood together. Our parking lot socials have a never ending supply of dogs and cornhole, and we got to celebrate our work with studio-wide site tours of some of our projects. Events like Park(ing) Day help us engage with our city and learn about our community.

Awards and Professional Growth

Smith Gee Studio has a lot to be proud of this year! We’ve been able to welcome so many new faces to our team this year, and we’re so excited to see what each person brings to our studio. We received an American Architecture Award in the residential category for 83 Freight, an AIA Middle Tennessee Design Award for 602 Taylor St, and several others! This year also brought more opportunities to engage with young minds in our community through hosting final reviews for architecture students and our DEI committee representing our profession at the MNPS Career Exploration Fair.

Festivities

As we approach the end of the year, we’ve found so many opportunities to celebrate holidays together. Our halloween costume competition was as tough as ever, with humans and dogs alike creating the best outfits. We got to share memories and celebrate each other with our Thanksgiving Potluck full of cultural and traditional meals, but don’t worry–those secret family recipes stayed secret! And to close out the year, our ginger-neering team took home best in show for our transit station on the moon at Gingertown: Moon Base!
