Quarantine Q&A
Happy Friday!
It’s been approximately thirty-six days since Smith Gee Studio started working from home to do our part to self-isolate and flatten the curve!
Before we all left to work from home, we had a handful of new hires join the firm that we are excited to introduce to y’all and can’t wait to get to know better when we’re all back together again!
We did a little Q&A with these folks to learn more about them and to get some great tips and insight into how they’re keeping busy and productive during this time.
Kim Dobbins
What has become your favorite local place to get takeout? Donato’s Pizza (1915 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37203 https://www.donatos.com/menu?location=417)
Who are your new coworkers? Smoke!
What have you been able to do that you haven’t gotten to do in a long time while staying at home? I have been able to cross stitch again. With no commute time, I have extra time during the day. I have not done it for years and found one in the closet that I started probably 10 years ago. I have attached a picture of how far I am. When I found this, it had most of the green leaves and brown highlighting completed.

Who are your new coworkers? Cash – my puppy
What is the first thing you’ll do once everything is open again? Go to a theme park – Cedar Point Ohio which has seventeen roller coasters! I love roller coasters.
What have you been able to do that you haven’t gotten to do in a long time while staying at home? I have been getting closer to watching everything on IMDB’s Top 100 movie list. I don’t do show binging.
Any new recipes you’ve tried out? My hobby is cooking so I’ve tried out way too many recipes during quarantine. Some include:

What new hobbies have you picked up during the stay-at-home order? I go shoot around my basketball goal more often.
How have you remained social? Usually by playing some video games after work with some friends!
What have you been able to do that you haven’t gotten to in a long time while staying at home? I have not trimmed my beard.
Any shows you’ve finished binging and recommend? Westworld is currently in its third season – it has some good architecture in this season!
Have you ever been quarantined? No I have not.

Any new recipes you’ve tried out? Because of its online popularity, my new drink obsession is the dalgona coffee or whipped coffee! It’s soooo good and so easy to make!
What has become your favorite local place to get takeout? Sindoore in Donelson! My current favorite Indian restaurant! (https://sindoore.com/menu-1)
Who are your new coworkers? Jiffy, our 4 year old golden retriever mix, aka HR who’s always checking up on us and Roku, our 7 year old pug, aka the admin assistant who likes to fall asleep on the job.
What have you been able to do that you haven’t gotten to do in a long time while staying at home? Get into a video game. I started playing Stardew Valley about two weeks ago and I am obsessed!
What is the first thing you’ll do once everything is open again? Go to the dog park, eat out, have a picnic!
Taylor Fieroh
What new hobbies have you picked up during the stay-at-home order? I have been trying to learn calligraphy and hand lettering. It’s the perfect activity to do for ten minutes on and off throughout my day. However, I can only practice so much before my hand starts to cramp.
What is your favorite podcast or playlist that you’ve been listening to to keep you sane? I’ve been trying to follow my favorite artists and listen to their live stream shows – it feels like it’s a private concert just for you!
What is the first thing you’ll do once everything is open again? Probably going out to eat or attending a yoga class!
How have you remained social? Many many house parties, zoom calls, and facetimes with friends and family.
What have you been able to do that you haven’t gotten to do in a long time while staying at home? I’ve spent some of my quarantine time at my parents’ house so I was able to have sit-down dinners with them in the evenings. It’s been a while since we’ve had so many dinners together at home!
Brendan Smith
What has become your favorite local place to get takeout? We eat paleo 7 nights a week, so it’s been great to cook, but when we order takeout it’s almost ALWAYS Mojo’s Tacos (not complete without queso and a Mexican coke). Delicious. (https://www.mojostacos.com/)
Who are your new coworkers? I’ve got Freja (lab/coonhound mix and VP of intern development), Crosby (King Charles Cavalier, 2 month old intern), and SIerra, my wifey/ride-or-die.
What is your favorite podcast or playlist that you’ve been listening to to keep you sane? I’ve listened to every single Astonishing Legends and Crime Junkies episode.
What is the first thing you’ll do once everything is open again? Go to my crossfit box.
What have you been able to do that you haven’t gotten to do in a long time while staying at home? We stayed in quarantine with my parents in Tulsa for a couple of weeks while working from home, so it was nice to spend time with the family.
