After designing their initial location in 2018, Smith Gee Studio has partnered with the owners of Retrograde Coffee to reimagine this versatile space in Nashville’s City Heights neighborhood.  From day to night, this dynamic coffee shop effortlessly transitions into a lively bar and is completed with a fully equipped kitchen.

The objective was to create a playful and eclectic atmosphere, embracing the vibrant “Retrograde Green” color collaboratively developed by the owners and the SGS design team. The utilization of tambour extends from the bar to the hostess stand and is seamlessly integrated into the light fixtures. To counter the high ceilings, the design incorporates a distinctive concrete circular wall, both partitioning the space for functionality and fostering interconnectedness between areas.
