Main & Clay is designed to connect Louisville’s nearby downtown modern urban fabric to the eclectic Butchertown Historic District. With over 400,000 SF of development and 232 apartments, the project represents a significant investment in downtown Louisville’s urban core.

Tasked with protecting the unique location and historic nature of the area, the project reinterprets and preserves existing facades, contrasting the old and new and connecting architecture over the generations. On the street, residential flats, townhomes, garden patios and local businesses breathe life into a previously inactive streetscape. As the first major multifamily residential investment in Butchertown, the highly anticipated addition to the neighborhood provided a catalyst for further economic development. Since its construction, eight new shops and restaurants have opened nearby and others have been announced.
