602 Taylor Street

SGS master planned and designed each phase of the 14-acre Taylor Place redevelopment in Nashville’s historic Germantown, including 602 Taylor Street, a 2-story office building and home to Smith Gee Studio. Situated next to the iconic Werthan Warehouse, an adaptive reuse of a historic industrial building, 602 Taylor reflects much of the context and character of the original site. Brick, metal, and glass create an elevation rooted in time. The building was completed in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Several essential elements responding to a post-pandemic world were incorporated into the design during construction. These included an HVAC system equipped with ionization technology to scrub the air throughout the building and touchless faucets, trash cans, and air dryers. 602 Taylor was designed for flexibility over time, accommodating up to 4 tenants with multiple entrances. SGS occupies ¾ of the building with bright, open office space and is designed to prioritize amenities and public areas at the corners for optimum daylight and visibility.
