NEUHOFF
Reviving the Soul
Nashville, Tennessee
The American porch connects nature with architecture, inside with out, public and private – a place where refuge and social connection converge, past meets future, and memories are formed. With decades of rich history spanning meat processing to artist occupancy, the Neuhoff abattoir has survived as a cherished community landmark. The long-abandoned Curve Building, once unassuming, now stands as a centerpiece of a thriving mixed-use district, ensuring its soul remains intact.
Selective demolition, guided by fire and water damage, and restrained modern interventions unveil a layered urban landscape, juxtaposing inside and out, patina and polish, authenticity and mystique. Neuhoff’s porch-like spaces invite discovery, from The Dock to The Grove Courtyard, where relic sculptures and gathering spaces evoke a sense of wonder and connection.
The Curve Building
Certified LEED BD+C CS Silver and granted USGBC’s Tennessee’s Iconic Building Award, the 210,000 square-feet Curve Building adds a heightened sense of authenticity, evolution, and sense of place, enhancing the 14-acre Neuhoff District and historic Germantown experience.
