Scott is an Associate Principal at Smith Gee Studio, and as a champion for urban design, is involved in all aspects of design across Smith Gee Studio’s project portfolio. Scott’s focus has long been on communities and placemaking and helping clients’ visions come to life in creative and innovative ways. He has a wide range of project experience from large scale urban development to suburban and conservation design, including both public and private sector work. Scott managed MDHA’s Envision Cayce Master Plan and oversaw the LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED ND) application process for The Gulch and Cummins Station, two of the first LEED ND certified projects in the United States.
Prior to joining SGS in 2013, Scott worked for the Metropolitan Planning Department in Nashville for several years and has extensive knowledge in local zoning and development standards. In addition, Scott served for several years as a member of MDHA’s Design Review Committee. He has broad experience in project management, design, consultant coordination, proposals, and green building practices. Most of his career has focused on community planning and sustainable development combining his expertise and design talents in creating quality places and distinct environments.
