Collaboration, Community, and Exceptional Design. These are the first ingredients in our secret sauce that makes Smith Gee Studio a little different from other firms. You’ll find them in everything we do — from our projects to our office culture, to our passion for making better places to live, work and play.
Our experience includes:
DIVERSITY, EQUITY, & INCLUSION (DEI)
SGS DEI Committee Mission Statement – In always striving to be our best selves in who we are and what we do, it is fundamental for our work and our employees to understand and reflect the diverse community and culture of the world we live in. This understanding will make us better at what we do, more competitive in the fields of architecture, interior design, and urban planning and more attractive to the talent we seek to recruit.

DESIGN ROUND TABLE (DRT)
A good example of our approach to architecture happens every Thursday when we host an in-house, brown-bag lunch, professional development series called Design Round Table or DRT. We set aside this time for our team to present current projects for feedback, hold design charrettes, and participate in design “crits” – yeah like we did in school! We also take opportunities to get out of the office to visit current projects under construction, tour fabricators and showrooms, and explore downtown Nashville and some of the institutions that make our city great.
OUR NEW OFFICE
We have moved into our new office space! 602 Taylor is a new mixed-use office/retail building in Historic Germantown Nashville, an urban neighborhood we know well. Our new office is a part of the Werthan Packaging redevelopment for which we have been leading the design effort since 2011. Reflecting much of the industrial context, brick, metal, and glass create an architecture rooted in time while complementing the residential neighborhood with punched openings on the street. A short walk to neighborhood restaurants and watering holes, we are excited to be located in Germantown and continue to contribute to a thriving community that we helped preserve and rejuvenate.
