Town Madison

Smith Gee Studio created the Master Plan and Design Guidelines for The Heights District at Town Madison—a vibrant residential, commercial, and entertainment hub just outside Huntsville, Alabama. The district is planned as a Traditional Neighborhood Development, emphasizing walkability, community interaction, and architectural cohesion.

Smith Gee Studio is also designing several key buildings within the neighborhood, including condominiums, townhomes, live-work units, and commercial shells. Each building follows the neighborhood’s design guidelines, with massing and architectural details tailored to create an engaging, pedestrian-friendly environment.

The condominium buildings feature generous balconies and porches that encourage community interaction. Townhomes echo this idea with large front porches, while private garages line the rear alleys and are separated from the homes by private backyards.

Live-work units are designed with street-level commercial frontage and expansive glazing, clearly signaling opportunities for small businesses to thrive on the ground floor.
