The Gulch

Since 1999, Smith Gee Studio team members have overseen the ongoing Master Planning efforts in The Gulch. With over $1.5 billion in investment, this redevelopment has transformed a once obsolete brownfield industrial area into Nashville’s premier urban mixed-income neighborhood, with over 1800 new residential units, hotel and office buildings, restaurants and cafes, a local organic grocery store, and Tennessee’s first Urban Outfitters.

As part of the USGBC’s LEED for Neighborhood Development Pilot Program, SGS oversaw the application for The Gulch, which was awarded Silver Certification and was the first LEED ND project in the South and one of the first ten in the United States to receive this distinction.
