MNPD Southeast Police Precinct

Smith Gee Studio is serving as both architect and interior designer for Nashville’s new Southeast Police Precinct—an innovative, 24,000-square-foot facility designed to strengthen community ties and prioritize officer wellness. Abandoning the typical windowless, bunker-style precinct model, the design emphasizes natural light, openness, and healthy spaces. Features include a 1,400-square-foot community room for public meetings, a nearly 700-square-foot fitness area, and a dedicated wellness space—all aimed at supporting both public engagement and officer wellbeing.

Designed in collaboration with DLR Group, the precinct is set to open in late 2025 and is targeting LEED Gold certification. This is the first new MNPD precinct in nearly a decade and the ninth overall. It will host specialized investigative units and undercover teams, and help redistribute public safety coverage—reducing precinct jurisdictions to about 55 square miles each. More than just a building, the Southeast Precinct is a significant investment in the future of law enforcement infrastructure and a reflection of Nashville’s broader goals for safer, more connected communities.
