Architectural Quality Manager
Position Overview
This position provides project drawing and documentation reviews, and technical direction to Project Teams for projects in the design and construction phases. Successful candidates will have familiarity with an understanding of building codes, knowledge of the design and construction process, and be capable of providing general project reviews for multiple project types, sizes, and delivery methods.
Reports to: Quality Management Director
Responsibilities
- Provide Project Teams with reviews of documents and drawings to ensure a consistent and high standard of quality throughout the design and construction phases.
- Encourage continual improvement of all Team Members and serve as a resource for
individual Team Members. - Reinforce the 5 C’s ‐ clear, concise, correct, complete and coordinated.
- Assist BIM Manager with establishing and revising Revit standard details as needed.
- Be available for general and project-specific technical questions, field questions, and
Construction Administration phase coordination. Assist Project Teams with site visits, field
reports, and punch lists as needed. - Assist with impromptu training of individuals, and formal training sessions related to the
firm’s Quality Management processes. - Develop and maintain office standard specifications for projects to streamline submittal
reviews. Coordinate specifications standards with design team Project Managers. - Assist with project‐specific submittals and RFI reviews as needed by Project Teams.
- Assist Project Teams as needed with preparing revised drawing sets for “As-Designed”
record closeout documents. - Anticipate 50% project team assistance and drawing reviews; 50% Construction
Administration time.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional design and production experience, including office and design field Construction Administration. Experience in all project phases required.
- Construction Administration experience in private and public sector projects preferred.
Experience in multifamily projects strongly preferred. - Licensed architect, credentialed, or other licensed design professional preferred.
- A professional degree from an accredited program preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Construction Documentation and the ability to apply information in
the documents to the Construction phase. - Strong knowledge of adopted building codes and zoning ordinances. Ability to research
and apply codes and ordinances on a project- or jurisdiction-specific basis. - Ability and desire to be adaptable and creative.
- Strong understanding of risk-management strategies.
- Strong verbal and graphic communication skills.
- Proactive, collaborative problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in design and documentation software, including AutoCAD and Revit is
preferred. - Proficiency in word-processing and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Word, Excel, etc.) and
PDF applications (e.g., Bluebeam) - Familiarity with server and cloud-based Construction Administration management
software and applications (e.g., Procore, Paskr, Newforma, Autodesk Construction
Cloud/Plangrid, etc.).
